Studying medicine has been very meaningful for me, I like taking up challenges and explore upon my capabilities. However, it has been a hard time the past two years, adjusting to the heavy workload and packed schedule during clinical years. The stress had been emerging and growing, seemingly out of my capacity to manage. I was uncertain about my future, and felt adrift at times.
It was my first coaching session with Ming Lok, where I for the first time tried to verbally express my struggles. I did not expect to talk much to someone I met for the first time, let alone my personal stories. Ming Lok establishes a very calming, safe space for her clients. She is patient, attentive and concludes my worries into very concise summaries. I was guided through identifying my key worries and struggles, and exploring alternatives to the same situation. Ming Lok was very on point, making me realize I have been too focused onto my struggles and neglected other possibilities.
Throughout the 3 coaching sessions, I have developed a better sense of self. Instead of revolving myself around the same problems, letting myself fall into the 'emotions trap', I have found better ways to approach them, hence balancing out different aspects in life. 'Here and Now' has been a big help to me, and I will definitely take that along with me.
